AppleTV 2.3
So, a new AppleTV OS dropped today. Interestingly, the new features actually had code supporting them in ATV 2.2 — like the remote learning stuff, video playlists, etc. API support was there in the previous version. Weird, huh?
So anyway, this morning I got my big big AppleTV project running on ATV 2.2. I breathed a huge sigh of relief & took a break to read the news. ATV 2.3 released. So I update my test box to 2.3, try my software out. No go.
Bugger.
That leaves one now-very-full day in LA to get it working on 2.3. Great timing there Apple. Do you have, like, spy-cameras in our office here? Huh? Do you?
sigh
Well, at least I’ve got my tequila.
…
WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE’RE OUT OF TEQUILA ??!!?!?!?

The official timeline for working on the BackRow DSK begins in January. Since I’m doing ATV stuff for clients this is actually set aside in the product roadmap, so that’ll help get it all done. However, because of that it won’t necessarily be released immediately to the public, partly because it’s officially being built using product support time, partly because it’ll initially be tailored directly to what I’m doing for this client. I would estimate a release a couple of months after that, maybe around March-April, with an iPhone SDK-style platform setup.

Hey there, just wondering if you have had anytime to work on this. I just bought a new appleTV and would love to try this out – should I just wait a little bit?
Also, do you know if running OSX 10.5.6 – I guess that’s the latest on appleTV 2.3 would work?
I’m just really excited about making my new appleTV do more then it currently does
Thanks again for all your efforts!
